Physical Therapy: Utilizes various treatment approaches to promote the independence and quality of life for each resident. Physical Therapy increases flexibility, strength, endurance, balance and alleviation of pain.

Areas of treatment focus may include:

  • Increase strength and mobility in the body and lower extremities
  • Increase motor control for a patient who has suffered a stroke
  • Improve coordination, balance and the ability to walk following a fracture
  • Improve overall strength conditioning, range of motion and endurance
  • Pain management
  • Teaching proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Promoting safety awareness for the well being of the resident
  • Use of pain relieving modalities such as e-stim and diathermy

Occupational Therapy: Utilizes various treatment approaches to promote the independence and quality of life for each resident. Occupational Therapy assists with cognitive testing and treatment, Alzheimer’s therapy, low vision therapy, lymphedema management, strengthening and endurance, energy conservation, daily living skills and wheelchair positioning.

Areas of treatment may include:

  • Functional independence: eating, bathing, toileting, homemaking, cooking, etc.
  • Maintenance of wellness: dressing and grooming
  • Prevention of further disability: home assessments and modifications, adaptive equipment
  • Increasing safety awareness
  • Patient and caregiver education to promote functional independence
  • Strength training to improve growth and fine motor muscle control

Speech Therapy: Treats swallowing and communication difficulties to allow safe and adequate nutritional intake and functional communication with staff and family. Speech therapy assists with swallowing, verbal expression, communications of needs and wants, memory, organizing thoughts and speaking sequencing, comprehension, problem solving, reading comprehension and alternative methods of communication. Initially, our therapists perform a comprehensive evaluation per physician’s orders, taking into consideration individual goals, capabilities, and tolerance levels. Then a treatment plan is established with your physician to obtain desired outcomes.

Areas of treatment focus may include:

  • Improving speech and voice clarity
  • Increasing comprehension and verbal expression
  • Improving chewing and swallowing ability
  • Maximizing cognitive language skills: memory, problem solving, and abstract reasoning
  • Patient and family/caregiver education and training for managing ongoing difficulties with communication, cognition, and swallowing
